Hagen with Mrs. Moses

When we knew Hagen was going to be with Mrs. Moses again, I just had to do comparison pictures.  Awe!  Makes me all sappy inside seeing them!

Meet the Teacher and First Day of 2nd Grade!

Meet the Teacher, boys were so excited!  2nd grade!!!!

IMG_8101IMG_8102

Hagen with Mrs. Moses.  She had him in kindergarten!  He is so excited to have her again.  We are, too.  I know how great it is to have the same teacher again and already have that relationship established.

Mason got Mrs. Sockel.  He LOVES her.  I don’t know how it happened, but he met her when he was in 1st grade and latched on to her.  She also wanted him in her room.  It was so exciting for me to see how happy the two of them were to be together this year.  After a somewhat rough year last year for Mason, I have high hopes this year.

2nd grade’s team theme this year is superheroes.

Back to School Adjustments

Starting back full time has been an adjustment.  But, thankfully, Jeremy’s job has helped us with some flexibility.  I moved in and within a week I switched offices… which was a complete upgrade – so I am NOT complaining!!!

IMG_8095

One morning I had meetings and the boys weren’t back in school yet.  They came with me while we waited for Gran to come get them.  They loved one of my classrooms.

IMG_8096

I learned how fun it is to be full time faculty.  I feel like such a grown up.

I have long meetings where they feed you.

IMG_8099

I get lots of fun new things, like my own computer.

IMG_8100

But, I have to deal with this every day.  Really 18-wheelers?  Every lane?  Why must you get in every.single.lane??

Basketball end of Season, Summer

We had  a great time playing basketball this summer.  Both boys got the good sportsmanship metals.  We also had a great coach.

Sleep over for boys

Nate invited the boys over for their first sleep over at someone else’s house.  They were super excited!

IMG_8083

Angie, Nate’s mom, was very brave.  She decided to go all out and invite 6 boys over!  Whew!  Very brave, Angie!  Very brave!!

We are Facebook friends, so I got some pictures from Facebook and she also text me some of them.  It was fun getting pictures all night from their progress.

The no shirts are cracking me up.  I’m not sure who started it, but Angie said they just started stripping their shirts off.  I guess they thought this was manly.  HA HA

I think this was soccer.

Angie used my trick to try the movie to help them wind down.  Hagen and Nate were the last ones to fall asleep.

First Sleep Over!

The boys each picked one friend to come over for their first sleep over.  Hagen had Henri over, his first friend from Kindergarten.  Mason invited Nate, his first friend from kindergarten.  This might it kind of fun… and we know both of their families, which made it pretty easy.  Even though they each had their ‘own’ friend, it really was just one big party with the four of them.

It was funny to see the different activities they rotated between:

Wii

Pokémon Cards

Games:

Hide-and-seek!  This was funny!  The kids took turns and then Jeremy got in on the fun.  The picture below is when Jeremy was hiding and they had to find him.  So funny!

Make your own sundaes for dessert!

IMG_8059

I figured the easiest way for them to wind down was a movie.  So, they watched two movies.  Funny enough, Nate and Henri fell asleep first.  BOTH Hagen and Mason were awake after two movies.  Good grief!  They finally fell asleep on their own.

Sleeping…. (Mason snuck into our room in the middle of the night.

IMG_8068

When all the boys got up, Mason was still sleeping in our bed, so the boys went in there to get him up.

Love all four of these sweet boys.  I am so thankful for the sweet friendships my precious babies have!

"How Preemie Moms Are Chosen" by Erma Bombeck

Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen?
Somehow, I visualize God hovering Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Armstrong, Beth, son. Patron Saint...give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles.
"Give her a preemie."
The angel is curious. "Why this one God? She's so happy."
"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."
"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I am going to give her has a world of it's own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."
God smiles. "This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness. "
The angel gasps, "Selfishness! Is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says momma for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see cleary the things that I see - ignorance, cruelty, prejudice - and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."
"But what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air.
God smiles.
"A mirror will suffice."
