Our Trucks

The boys are getting so good at riding their trucks. They can manuver through any area! It is fun to watch them. They also pick up lots of speed. Sorry, no Sunday drivers here!

Playing

This video is 1 minute and 44 seconds - it took a while to download. But, it is well worth it. We taught Hagen to chase Mason. Mason loves being chased. So, this 1 minute and 44 seconds is worth it. We laugh everytime we watch it.

Professor Paucci

A late posting from Gran Camp.

During Gran Camp, Professor Paucci showed up. The grand kids thought it was quite funny. Ruby was quick to point out that it was just Paucci dressed up :-)

Here is Professor Paucci surprising the kids at the front door.

'Is this where I am suppose to be?' Professor Paucci said several times to the giggling foursome. He did some neat science experiments using dry ice.

I thought this was neat. He took a ribbon dipped in dish washing liquid, ran it over the rim of the bowl and it created a huge bubble. Below is a small clip of it. The kids got a big kick out of it.

'Wow, look at all the bubbles.'

'Wait a minute, forget the bubbles ... who are you???'

Hagen, HP, Love Bug, Big Boy

Hagen got his first goose egg today... but I don't know what classifies a true goose egg. This was not by any means huge. He fell and hit the corner of the coffee table. You can see it on the right side. The boo boo packs were passed out and everyone was okay.

Hagen discovered another spot to crawl through -under the end table.... but he got stuck and wasn't very happy that I had to capture it on film.

He is really walking great now! I feel like it happened over night. One day he crawled and only took a step or two. The next, he was up walking 6 to 8 steps and now we are walking everywhere. It is soooo fun to watch both of them toddle all over the place!

One Great Idea

Sorry we have been absent from posting ... it has been a little busy around here, and we also haven't done any *picture worthy* activities... BUT, I have a few saved up, so I will be posting a few this week :-)
Jeremy is great about keeping the boys busy while I cook dinner. I read in one of my parenting magazines to create an obstacle course using pillows. So, the other night I told Jeremy to create an obstacle course using the couch cushions. He started by trying to make tunnels. Mason loved going through them, but Hagen liked knocking them down. They ended up just throwing all of them in the room. The boys LOVED climbing all over them. (It also wore them out!)

It was such a hit, we did it again tonight.

Yum, tasty!

'Hagen - come try this knob, it sure is tasty.''Wow, you are right Mason, it sure is!''Mommy, you should really try it!'Sorry folks, no knob-lickin' for me. But the boys thoroughly enjoyed licking ALL the knobs on the armoire.

The Zoo

Gran Camp is getting bigger and bigger every year. This year the boys were allowed to come, but they had to have a parent chaperone (me). The lake was last weekend and Monday was the Fort Worth Zoo. Soooo, here is our 1st Trip to the Zoo.

Here are all the kids: (from left to right) Lily, Joey, Ruby, Matthew, Mason and Hagen.

Minus a shoe, here we are to greet the elephants.
I think the boys were more interested in all the people and the stroller ride than the animals.Ruby, Matthew, and Gran checking out the monkeys.'Monkey? Where's a monkey? Do you see a monkey?'
'Well... Mommy calls me a monkey sometimes.'Yes, that's a gorilla. No, he's not on the loose... but Ruby looks like she is ready for the chase!Checking out the flamingos. A train ride to cool us off. (Notice our fun elephant shirts just for the zoo!)

'Ummm, what time do they feed the snakes?'
'Don't get too close Lily, I heard he hasn't been fed yet!'
Hagen fell asleep before we got back to the car.
Mason was still ready to see more animals/people.
(Hagen woke up from the flash of the above picture.)

(From the mouth of Hagen...)
'Whatcha doing?'
'Here let me help, I bet I can get it.''Uh oh, abort misson, abort mission!' 'I am so telling her it was all your idea.'

A Goose Egg, A Haircut, and Stairs

It happened.

We knew it would.

We just didn't know when.

I couldn't get a good picture of it - but here are the ones I captured. For some reason it doesn't
look too bad in the pictures. The goose egg came up really quick, but then it seemed as the day wore on, it got smaller. I didn't even call the advice nurse - I just looked it up in my Baby411 book. (Great book for all you expectant mothers.) According to this book, there were no 'red flags' and we were to wait and see if the condition got worse or didn't improve.

**Okay, after looking at the pictures, you might be thinking I made it all up! I really didn't. It is the red circle in the middle of his forehead.**

He was acting totally fine after Mommy and Daddy kissed him all over. We were well enough later in the day to discover a new hiding place:

Behind the chair. (See the nail heads on the chair - Mason was walking and fell forward. His head came crashing down on the side of the chair with these nail heads. That is what his goose egg looked like - one of those nail heads.)He thinks it is really funny that he is back there and his brother is not!

Mason also got his 3rd haircut - poor Hagen is still trying to grow some so he can have his 1st haircut ;-)

Daddy had the pleasure of taking Mason this time. Daddy also decided to take Mason shopping after the haircut. Can you guess what Daddy bought him?

They were nice enough to get one for Hagen, too.

We also went to the lake on Saturday. My uncle has a lake house that is two story - so the boys were introduced to STAIRS... umm, yeah, we liked them - more than the lake itself!!!

"How Preemie Moms Are Chosen" by Erma Bombeck

Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen?
Somehow, I visualize God hovering Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Armstrong, Beth, son. Patron Saint...give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles.
"Give her a preemie."
The angel is curious. "Why this one God? She's so happy."
"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."
"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I am going to give her has a world of it's own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."
God smiles. "This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness. "
The angel gasps, "Selfishness! Is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says momma for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see cleary the things that I see - ignorance, cruelty, prejudice - and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."
"But what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air.
God smiles.
"A mirror will suffice."
