Having a Sick Day

Hagen started coughing yesterday.  When I picked him up from preschool, his teacher told me everyone in the class was coughing all day.  Once we got home, he started going downhill.  He started running a fever and after some medicine, took a long nap.

We are sure Mason is next, so today we are taking it slow – 2 of the 3 of us are still in our PJs.  Lots of TV watching with a little playing mixed in.  Sure hope this passes quickly.  We have many important activities come up soon!!

Planning and a Sneak Peak

The boys LOVE Diego!  I was actually surprised at how quickly he moved to the number 1 spot.  They still like other shows/characters… but this guy is way above even #2.  So, when I starting thinking about their birthday party, I figured they would love anything Diego.

It can be a little frustrating because I am finding lots of Dora (Diego’s cousin) things, but Diego is limited.  I ordered their invitations today – here is a sneak peak Smile

4 year invites

Diego is an animal rescuer (for those of you unfamiliar with Diego) and he has an animal rescuer patch on his vest full of pockets.  I found a similar vest (fishing vest) in the boys’ size and I found the patch on eBay.  The boys LOVE their Diego vests.

One of my sweet friends, Amber, has twin boys the same age as H & M and they also share an infatuation with Diego.  I used her idea for the invitations.  Thanks so much, Amber!!!

Bowling 101

One perk of Jeremy’s job is his days off aren’t always on Saturday and Sunday (this is also a negative sometimes…).  His days off this week were Wednesday and Thursday, so we decided to take the boys bowling for the first time.

They really didn’t get the concept or didn’t really care about the concept.  They just loved playing with the bowling ball or throwing/rolling it.  Once it left their hands, they were ready for the next ball to pop up out of the machine thing.  IMG_1756Daddy helped show them how to roll the ball.  Mason loved going over the line and making the foul line buzz.

Some of the pictures were blurry because the boys were moving so fast SmileIMG_1767IMG_1771

High 5 for a good job, Hagen!

Daddy showing the boys were the balls come up (and not to put their hand down there), they loved watching and waiting for the ball to pop up more than throwing the ball down the lane – I think!

Hagen cracks me up with his ‘too cool’ attitude.  Look at the way he is standing as he waits for his ball to get down to the pins.

Valentine’s Party

The boys had their first Valentine’s Party at Preschool today.  They were SO excited.  First they couldn’t believe they were going on the day they usually don’t, then they were super excited to know I wasn’t just dropping them off ~ but that I was staying with them and then they were beside themselves knowing there would be games, cookies, and cupcakes there!  Open-mouthed smile
Here are the boys helping put their Valentine’s cards together.  We (I) picked the cards, Cars (I’m sure the boys would have LOVED Deigo…. but I couldn’t find him anywhere Sad smile).  Each card came with a pencil.  So I addressed the cards (the teacher recommended ‘To my friend’) and I had Hagen write an ‘H’ on the from part (I went back and wrote in the ‘agen’).  Same with Mason, he wrote the ‘M’ and I added in the ‘ason’.
Here is Hagen writing his ‘H’s… he loved doing it!

Mason was cracking us up.  Starting to love the last few months of ‘3’ and ready for the ‘4’s.  He didn’t want to write an ‘M’, he wanted to show me how to write an ‘F’.  Ahh!!  Then he wanted to show me how he could draw himself.  So, I had to keep stopping him and letting him doodle on his scrap paper and only write ‘M’s on his Valentine cards.

At the party, Ms. C directing her students.  I loved how when we got there, they just fell right into line.  Fun to see them in the classroom and how they respond to Ms. C (love her!!).IMG_1713

Toss game, Hagen threw it way over the board – I think he thought the goal was to slam it into the wall!

Have no idea how Mason did, I was manning another station…IMG_1732
Before we left, they got cookies and cupcakes.  Hagen took it upon himself to keep asking for more.  One little boys’ mother just kept giving them to him.  I finally noticed and made him stop.  Ha!! Who knows how many he would have eaten, the little stinker.  He has such a sweet tooth, like his Momma!

We got home and I wanted to get a picture of the two of them together – seems like it is sometimes rare to get a pic of them together!  They wanted their balloons in the picture, so right before I snapped the picture, Hagen’s balloon had a run in with the bush – POP, opps.  I felt so bad… obviously he was not in the mood for a picture anymore.

Everything seems better with candy!

(Mason likes doing goofy grins, sometimes… ya think?)

"How Preemie Moms Are Chosen" by Erma Bombeck

Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen?
Somehow, I visualize God hovering Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Armstrong, Beth, son. Patron Saint...give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles.
"Give her a preemie."
The angel is curious. "Why this one God? She's so happy."
"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."
"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I am going to give her has a world of it's own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."
God smiles. "This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness. "
The angel gasps, "Selfishness! Is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says momma for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see cleary the things that I see - ignorance, cruelty, prejudice - and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."
"But what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air.
God smiles.
"A mirror will suffice."
