Favorite Pics

I raided Grampa's camera and found some more pictures that I thought I would share! These are basically a hodgepodge from the past couple of weeks.

'So, apparently he wears a red suit and comes down the chimney...'
'I know I am on the good list, so what list do you think you are on?'
Hi Uncle Matt and Cousin Cambry! Some good ole' lovin' from Aunt Trish!
Reading one of our Christmas books.
'Yea! Someone with as little hair as me!'
Mason has learned if it is in his brother's lap, it always looks more appealing!
We went to Sam's and the boys were able to sit beside each other in the cart - too much fun! 'Okay, I think we are running out of room, Mommy!'

Last Christmas book and Last Christmas - Yea!

I love this picture - Hagen looks like he is saying "What's up?" Our last Christmas book was, of course, 'Twas The Night Before Christmas, by Clement C. Moore. (I am going to take a picture of the boys with all the books we read - but they are napping now, so I will post the picture later.)
Mason loves bath time. He has learned to splash and whoever gets to bathe him gets soaked!
Hagen waiting patiently for his bath time!
Christmas #5 was at Jeremy's Mamaw's house. We started with the traditional reading of the Christmas story from the bible.
Hagen just knew Daddy's sweet tea would taste delicious!!
Uncle Matt getting in some play time!
Aunt Trish getting in some lovin'.

The boys loved all their toys!

Grampa saying "Cheese".
Grammy eating up her time with Mason!

Christmas #6 brought us to Papaw and Mamaw's house. Hagen meeting cousin Scout.
Hagen talking to Grandmother.
Papaw posing with Mason.
Our own Christmas was last - didn't even take pictures - the boys were ready for naps. I might post some pictures later if we get in the mood to take more ;-)

Christmas: 4 down, 3 to go

Christmas # 2 was fun! The boys had another road trip this time close to Oklahoma. They were thoroughly enjoyed by all the Johnson Clan. Papaw Johnson holding Hagen. Jeremy holding Mason.
All the great grandchildren.
We arrived a little late to Christmas #3. The boys were too late to participate in the Nativity Scene... they were a little young anyway. Here we are with the cousins Tanya, Tina, and Tricia.
Here is Aunt Amy, Cousin Conner, Cousin Lily and Mason.Hagen was so excited to meet his Uncle Travis.Mamaw with some of her great-grandchildren!Personally, I think these are her favorites ;-)By the end of the night, the boys were wearing thin. We thought they would go to sleep fast and sleep long. We were wrong (don't worry, this too will be added to the things I learned part 3). Here is Hagen at about 11:00 pm last night.Christmas # 4 took place this morning and the boys were a little on the tired side.

Ruby got a fun gadget that put sparkles in her hair.

Too cute, Ruby!

Then, Travis thought everyone with hair (sorry Jeremy, Paucci, and Hagen) should get sparkles. I didn't get everyone's picture...but here is Leah - oh so pretty!

Christmas Books # 24 and #25

Christmas book # 24 was Woodland Christmas, by Frances Tyrrell. This book writes the song Twelve Days of Christmas -- we, of course, had to sing it. The boys enjoyed that!
Christmas book # 25 is The Polar Express, by Chris van Allsburg. We had to have hot chocolate to read this one!

Christmas Book #23 and Santa

We had to put on our reindeer outfits today - thanks Aunt Erin!
Christmas book #23 is The Story of Christmas, words from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. Great read aloud. The words are straight from the King James version. For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.-Luke 2:11
I found out Santa's hours at the mall today were 9 am to 9 pm. I thought we would get a head start and be there by 9 am and beat the rush. Jim (Paccui) went with us to help -- what a great help!! (We were actually out shined by triplet girls in line :-) ) Oh and I think we could have rented a Santa costume and Jim wear it for pictures --- that would have been much cheaper!!!! Apparently, Santa thinks his time if very valuable!!

Christmas Book #22 and Alot of Rockin' Going On

Christmas Book #22 is The Day Before Christmas, by Eve Bunting.Allie goes to see The Nutcracker with Grandpa on a special day-before-Christmas trip.

Mason is getting so close to crawling. Here he is rocking. He does this alot and then gets frustrated because he isn't getting anywhere!

Christmas Book # 21

Christmas Book # 21 is Welcome Comfort, by Patricia Polacco. Good book - kind of long - wouldn't recommend for a 9 month old ;-) Welcome Comfort is an outcast at his school. He learns the joy of Christmas through the best person - Santa himself.
I don't know what it is about men and fires. I guess the same thing as women and chocolate - okay, maybe not chocolate... Jeremy got a chimenia for Christmas and was chomping at the bit to get something burning in it. Mason was amazed by it and Hagen was ready to get back inside.

Things I Have Learned Part 2

1. No matter how well thought out and planned you were, it never, ever goes according to the plan (see Arkansas trip).
2. I will never be "finished" with the laundry.
3. I can say 'The next time he drops it, I will not pick it up again.' But I always do. (this may change?)
4. I can be in the worst mood and all it takes is a smile from one of my children to make me completely forget why I was in a bad mood.
5. I no longer contemplate if I need more diapers - The answer is YES.
6. See #5, but plug in baby food for diapers. The answer is YES.
7. There will never be a burp rag near when I need it the most.
8. Missing an episode of Grey's is not as traumatic as it once was.

9 Months Old!!! and Christmas Book # 20

I know I say it every month - but, wow, 9 months old already?!?!

Christmas book # 20 is How the Grinch Stole Christmas, by Dr. Seuss. An oldie, but a goodie. Come on people, you know the story.

"How Preemie Moms Are Chosen" by Erma Bombeck

Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen?
Somehow, I visualize God hovering Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Armstrong, Beth, son. Patron Saint...give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles.
"Give her a preemie."
The angel is curious. "Why this one God? She's so happy."
"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."
"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I am going to give her has a world of it's own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."
God smiles. "This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness. "
The angel gasps, "Selfishness! Is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says momma for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see cleary the things that I see - ignorance, cruelty, prejudice - and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."
"But what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air.
God smiles.
"A mirror will suffice."
