I have a cousin on my dad’s side of the family. Sadly, I don’t have much contact with this side of the family. But, Edith and I have stayed in contact (sometimes it pays off to embrace Facebook!). We visited her several years ago on our way to Destin. This time we went to her lake house on Lake Livingston, near Huntsville.
It was beautiful and so much fun!! The weather was perfect!! The boys either had their fishing poles in the water or they were cruising in the golf cart.
Ready to go fishing.
The minute Hagen stuck his pole in the water (seriously, the minute and the first time!), his pole immediately started pulling. He was so excited.
…Until Jeremy stepped in to help and realized just how BIG the fish was… I love Jeremy’s face in the second picture. This is after he saw the fish and could not believe how big it was.
Another great one that really shows the shock on Jeremy’s face. Crack me up!!
He finally got it out of the water and was trying to get the hook out when it broke the line and jumped back into the water. Using the picture below, we were able to measure it – 30 inches. It was later identified as a carp. Everyone (all us novice fishermen) were so surprised. What a great first fish to catch! HA!
Mason’s turn. And in true Mason fashion, he said he wanted to catch a catfish and what did he catch? A catfish.
Hagen’s catfish
So funny, one of the catfish he caught, he told Jeremy he wanted to take the hook out. So Jeremy gave him the gloves and he went to grab it. It made some noise and he jerked his hand away. He would get up the nerve to do it again and the catfish would make a noise. Hagen would jerk his hand away again! It was so funny to watch. Finally, the fish wiggled so much it got itself off the hook, so Hagen didn’t have to do it.
Even I got into it. Hey, if they were jumping on the line this easily, this was my kind of fishing!
Another favorite was the golf cart. Mason and I.
Hagen and Jeremy.
We found a playground. I remember these from when I was a kid!
Oh and I so remember these!!
Love this one!
Play hard, sleep hard!!
