It's So Hot Already!!

But, what a great excuse to have lots of water play!  Like, turning on the sprinkler to get the slide super wet and slippery...

Or to get the ground nice and muddy (Mason's favorite)

Hagen enjoyed running through the water.

And Mason enjoyed stomping though the mud.

Crack me up... that Hagen...

Yep, still working on it.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

We are having so much fun with our garden!  The boys love looking at all the vegetables and helping water it.

What a cute farmer :-)

Well, he can be a little goofy sometimes ;-)

Look how much the squash has grown!  We learned squash can take over a garden, so we are hoping it doesn't!
We even put a birdbath in the front flowerbed next to the window so the boys could watch birds take baths.
(We planted rosemary below it... yummmm, it smells so good!)
Hey Mr. Frog... how do you like that rosemary?
Here are some blooms on the zucchini plant.
(I tried flipping this picture 3 times!!  ARG, oh well, turn your computer sideways to look at this picture!)
Hagen and Mason looking at the corn.
I can't believe how much it is growing!  We are learning alot, the blueberry plant will probably not produce any berries (besides the two on it).  Our soil is not acidic enough - we are making another flowerbed for that plus a few more blueberry plants (they need a few to pollinate).
The tomato plants are really growing and have sprouted several buds.
Mason pointing out the blooms.
Our little farmer, so excited!

Day 4, Potty Training

Day 4 was busy!  But we still found time to do fun 'stuff'.
The boys love playing Memory.
We even ventured out and tried Candyland.
Not so successfully - Mason's little mover was red, so he didn't care what color he drew - he always wanted his man on red - :-)
Took some pictures of themselves.
the fan...
Momma and Daddy
Wrestling (or playing rough) - yes, Mason took this picture.
Daddy doing some weight lifting.
Reading
...alot...
All in all it was a good day.
I am closing the chapter on potty training.  We are still learning, I have no idea when I will stop saying every 5 minutes - 'Let me know if you have to go potty.'  I also have no idea when I will be brave enough to venture into public with the new underwear wearers... but it will happen.
One more chapter closed, no more diapers in this household!

Day 3, Potty Training

Spending three days at home in the same room (attached at the hip) with a three year old (two three year olds) can get a little old - I'm just sayin'.

The boys are rocking this potty training thing.  Yes, we have accidents, but for the most part we are doing great!
By the third day, we were finding lots of creative ways to entertain ourselves and our little counterparts:

Make a ramp... ummm, Daddy decided to build a ramp.

The boys had fun playing with it... but Daddy tried to make it perfect and two three year olds just wanted to P-L-A-Y!

They watched a show - we discovered Firefighter Sam... they LOVE him!

Daddy even promised them a ride on the four-wheeler for doing such a great job the past three days!

They stayed dry during the whole ride, including playing outside - yea!

Mamaw and Papaw got us these neat readers from Leapster.  The boys love them... here is Mason 'reading' to Hagen.

Boys are still doing amazing during naps and bedtime.  I went out and bought extra sheets and mattress covers to overlap ~ I heard this great tip from a fellow mother of multiple.  When they have an accident late at night and you have to change it, it is so much easier to just take the top sheet and mattress cover off and underneath you have a fresh sheet with mattress cover.  Loved this tip, so we have them... only had to do it once on Hagen's because Mason woke up in the middle of the night, which woke up Hagen and Mommy forgot to remind Hagen to go potty if he needed to (early morning of  Day 3) - he waited a little late to get to the potty. But other than that, the double layered sheets have stayed on the bed!  CrAzY!!  :-D

Day 2, Potty Training

I really didn't take many pictures from day 2.  But, a huge surprise (very pleasant surprise) was both boys woke up with dry underwear!
Here is Hagen the morning of Day 2.

For their first day of potty training and to wake up on Day 2 with dry underwear, both Jeremy and I were shocked!!!  We were prepared to change sheets throughout the night.  They did end up playing quite a bit before going to bed way past their bedtime, so they had plenty of time to empty those bladders.

They also ended up have no accidents during nap.  They went to sleep pretty quickly for nap because I think they were still tired from the night before.  After nap, ~ IT~ seemed to click.  Hagen did not need to be reminded and he just said he needed to go.  Then Mason did it.  Like that, it clicked and they did great!  No accidents the rest of the day into the evening.

We even played outside before bedtime.
Really hoping the night does as smoothly as the night of Day 1 went.  The boys did not poop today, we think on purpose - they were avoiding doing it in the toilet.  So, this is our main hurdle at this point.  Hoping Day 3 goes great, more clicking and some poopin' :-)

Day 1, Potty Training

I know I've said it before, but we did the 3 Day Potty Training Method. I would recommend it.  It was great!  I wish we had done it sooner (the first time we tried potty training).
We got up like it was a typical day, ate breakfast, then put on BIG boy underwear!

Hagen with his Tow Mater underwear - he LOVES Mater!
Hagen and Mason with their BIG BOY underwear on!!
Then we threw away all the BABY diapers!  The boys loved doing this!
We even threw away the changing pad!  Her method says no more changing clothes to lay down or anything that is remotely related to 'baby'.
I really used to think little diaper bottoms looked so cute... but I've changed my tune, little underwear bottoms are SO cute!!!  Especially these ;-)

The boys playing Memory with us.  I think they just loved having J and I attached to their hips!
Mason eating an apple in his BIG BOY underwear
Hagen and Daddy thought the apple looked good.
The boys did really well for their first day!  We had a few accidents, but nothing major.  The only yucky part was the one poop accident and we threw that underwear away (sorry, I'm just not going there this time!)  The boys also stayed dry all nap and all night!  We couldn't believe it!  I think the two hurdles we still have are, pooping in the potty and anticipatory - learning their bodys' signals with enough time to get to the bathroom.

That evening before bed, they got to run around outside helping Daddy water plants.
Yea!  One day down, Daddy... just two more to go!!!!  :-)

"How Preemie Moms Are Chosen" by Erma Bombeck

Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen?
Somehow, I visualize God hovering Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Armstrong, Beth, son. Patron Saint...give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles.
"Give her a preemie."
The angel is curious. "Why this one God? She's so happy."
"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."
"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I am going to give her has a world of it's own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."
God smiles. "This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness. "
The angel gasps, "Selfishness! Is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says momma for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see cleary the things that I see - ignorance, cruelty, prejudice - and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."
"But what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air.
God smiles.
"A mirror will suffice."
