I have to share this before I share about the soccer game. We teachers are very knowledgeable about a nutritious breakfast. I can’t tell you how many times I preached to my classes about eating a good breakfast before coming to school/class.
As I went to sleep the night before H & M’s first soccer game, I thought about what kind of breakfast I could make them…. eggs, turkey bacon… cut up strawberries… what time would I need to get up to get all that made before having to get ready for the game…. etc, etc.
That morning before my alarm even went off I heard giggling in the monitor… at this point, I think ALL of you know what that means. I get up, go in their play room and what is sitting between the two of them?
Yep, a whole bag of Oreo cookies – a bag that was unopened when I went to sleep the night before and now had the ENTIRE middle row missing.
WHAT?!?! And, there went my dreams of a nutritious breakfast before soccer practice! What can you do? Nothing, but give them a glass of milk and offer a scrambled egg.
Hagen, #7 (Jeremy about punched someone to get this number …. totally kidding, but he was wanting one of the boys to have this number because he was #7 on most of his jerseys as a child.)
Mason, #2 (funny, he thought he should be #1…. yep, already a bit of an ego, don’t know where he gets it!)
Hagen wanted to play ‘tough guy’ in his picture. Such sweet boys! Cheesy, but I can’t believe I keep loving them more and more…. didn’t know it was possible.
Yes, I have video. No, I didn’t download it yet. Sorry, I have been a little busy and it does take some time. One computer does the video, the other doesn’t, one computer has internet, the other doesn’t… blah blah blah. I will try to get video up one day.
Pep talk before the game.
I have to brag just for a second… the boys are such good listeners. I was actually shocked to see how well behaved and observant they are with their coach. I only really see them at home and sometimes with their ‘friends’… so it was very interesting to see them compared to other kids on their team. Sooo proud of H & M.
At this age, the coaches stay on the field with them during the whole game and really coach/talk them through the whole thing.
Yep, that is Mason with the ball!!
He actually scored a goal, with the help of a teammate. ![]()
Hagen waiting for instructions from Coach on when to kick the ball back into play.

Coach actually split the boys up, during each quarter – they rotate who is on the field and who is resting. Hagen being the concerned one, always wanted to know where Mason was and why he wasn’t playing with Mason. Here he is with Gran during his cool off period (it was SO hot outside!!)
They played SO good! We were so proud of them!
Right after he scored his goal… so proud ![]()
Towards the end of the game…. they were tired and hot. This little dude was done!
Hagen’s turn. He was so funny, he would be running along and he would hear one of us cheer for him. He would stop – find us and give us a big smile and then go back to playing. Crack – us – up!!
Throwing the ball back into play. Good throw, buddy!
End of the game, and I captured a moment that is SO my children.
‘Hagen, you want the purple one.’ ‘Sure, Mason… you want the red one?’
‘Thanks, Hagen.’
At the end the parents stand and create a tunnel for both teams to run through ![]()
One last pep talk before the huddle.
